Well, I feel like such a jerk. Thanks SuperMedia for making some poor innocent "illegal immigrant" delivery girl practically cry at my house.

A few months back, I clicked the opt out link from the "Yellow Pages Association", like the one to the right on this site, to keep from receiving copies of the phone book at my home. Go figure, I got a copy of the Verizon Greater Dallas book.

The next day I get a call and they say they are coming back out to pick up the copy and apologized. At 9:05 p.m. Rosanna and her Grandparents show up at my home to pick up the book. She apologized for giving me a book. I was not sure who to blame but the fear in her voice was very upsetting to her and myself. She said that there is a very good chance that due to the mix-up (wonder how much of it has to do with the fact that it was me and not someone else) she would likely be fired. She said that they each make about $100 a day, so $300 for the family delivering 2500 phone books per day. They have them in the back of the truck. Poor Rosanna had to translate everything I said to her Grandparents. It was obvious that as much as yellow pages sales reps tend to support illegal immigrants with free advertisements, so does the delivery process with migrant or illegal workers.

I assume the reason she delivered a book was because she, like many other illegal immigrants, has trouble reading and writing English.

It is not just India that gets these American jobs.
